The question you ask yourself can change the way you see the entire situation.
There’s a huge difference between:
“Why do I have to be the one who does this?”
and…
“Why am I the right person for this?”
Same challenge.
Same person.
Same responsibility.
But an entirely different perspective.
The first question can lead your mind toward frustration, burden, and all the reasons you wish the responsibility belonged to someone else.
The second invites you to look for something different:
What experience have I gained that prepared me for this?
What strengths do I have that this situation requires?
What could I learn from taking this on?
Who might I become because I chose to step up?
Sometimes the questions running through our minds sound like requests for answers—but they’re already influencing which answers our brains go looking for.
So when you catch yourself asking:
“Why does this have to be me?”
Try changing the question:
“Why might I be the right person for this?”
You may be surprised by the answer. 💯
