What if the biggest obstacle to your career growth isn't your circumstances, but the story you're telling yourself about them?
In this special bonus episode of the Modern Leadership Podcast, Marc Hildebrand sits down with Dr. Wanda Wallace, Managing Partner of Leadership Forum, executive coach, author, and host of the "Out of the Comfort Zone" podcast.
Drawing on decades of experience working with leaders and organizations around the world, Dr. Wallace shares powerful insights from her new book, "Taking Charge of Your Career: Your Blueprint for Success".
Together, Marc and Dr. Wallace explore how our assumptions, emotions, and personal narratives can create blind spots that prevent us from recognizing opportunities, making better decisions, and advancing our careers.
In this episode, you'll discover:
🔹 Why you have more choices than you might realize, even when you feel stuck.
🔹 How the people around you can unintentionally reinforce limiting beliefs and create an echo chamber.
🔹 Why understanding your emotions is essential to making better leadership decisions.
🔹 How to challenge your assumptions without becoming defensive.
🔹 Why considering two alternative perspectives can completely change how you approach a problem.
🔹 The importance of honest feedback, trusted relationships, and outside perspectives in overcoming blind spots.
🔹 How to take greater ownership of your career and develop an authentic personal brand.
Dr. Wallace also shares a fascinating real-world coaching example involving an executive whose frustration with senior leadership was rooted in an earlier professional setback. By examining his emotions, questioning his assumptions, and seeking alternative perspectives, he discovered new ways to move forward.
The lesson? You can't always control the circumstances around you, but you can learn to recognize your choices and take responsibility for your next step.**
