Coaches Who ELEVATE Use December Differently

When the calendar turns to late November, most people ease off the gas and promise themselves they’ll restart in January. We take the opposite path. This conversation dives into why strategy isn’t the real barrier to progress, how your belief system quietly protects comfort, and what it looks like to build momentum during the holidays without sacrificing family, peace, or recovery.
We break down the idea of “zagging”—choosing to think differently when the world zigs. That doesn’t mean longer hours or performative hustle. It means small, honest commitments that fit your real season: one meaningful outreach, a short workout, a single deliverable, a five-minute reflection. We share how year-end can actually be a competitive advantage for connection, clarity, and pipeline, and why identity-based habits created now make January feel like continuation, not a cold start.
You’ll hear practical ways to protect presence while making progress, from designing holiday-fit workflows to using gratitude-driven outreach that opens doors. We also talk about the power of community: a room that normalizes thoughtful action and coaches you through real constraints so you keep promises to yourself without burning out. If you’re ready to let go of the “I’ll start later” script and build a calmer, more consistent kind of success, this one’s for you.
Ready to zag while others zig? Join us for the first Elevate Monthly call on December 1. Learn more at modernleadership.us/elevate and test the community for seven days. If this helped, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a quick review so more people can build momentum now.

0:00 What is going on, my people? Good morning. Good morning. I have something that I need to share with you because here's the thing. Every year around this time, I see two different kinds of people. The ones who've like totally crushed it this year, and they bring that momentum into next year on fire. And the ones who kind of like slow down, telling themselves, I'm just going to pick it up in January. Now, having been a coach now for 13 years, I've coached both of these types of people. And there's one huge difference that I've noticed between them. And here's the truth today's topic, not only is this something that will help you lean into these next few months to set yourself up for success next year, but in reality, these are things that you can use in any time of the year.
0:43 But this is when I see people lean in and create the most momentum ever. So the thing is, is the ones, the people who create that long-term success, when everybody else is zigging, they choose to zag. You see, most people think what's holding the back is strategy, time, circumstance, maybe the holiday season, but it's not. It's their BS, their belief system. Now, I don't mean that kind of BS because the people that I work with are hard chargers, they're high performers, they're action takers. But the thing is, is their brain also tries to tell them that right now they just don't have the time. It's the holidays. My family needs me. I need to slow down.
1:23 And it's not that those things aren't true. It's just that your brain is trying to use them to keep you safe, to keep you doing what you've always done. But the truth is, is that you can have it all. You can have right now time with family. You can have growth, you can have peace, and you can have progress if you're willing to challenge your BS. That is what zagging really means. It doesn't mean hustling, it doesn't mean working harder, but it also doesn't mean waiting until things are perfect. It's choosing to think differently when the world is reacting in its same old patterns and way. Now, here's the thing: every year between November and December, I have my best months ever.
2:05 I get into the best shape, I find more clients. I think I've already found 25 this month in November. I connect more with my family and I take more time off. You're gonna find that there's gonna be people who do push it off and wait until January. And we love those people because those are the people that we're gonna be able to help and serve on a different level. But if we want to get ahead and become the type of person that those people look for, we have to get started now. So, how do you do this consistently? Well, you hang out in a room where people choose to think differently. This is why we created Elevate Monthly. It's not another course, it's not another list of to-dos for you to do. It's a room full of people who choose to zag when the rest of the world is zigging.
2:50 We grow, we get coached, and we take action on the things that we already know, but in a way that actually fits into your life. It's simple, it's affordable, and it's designed for people who want to keep that momentum without losing themselves. So if you want the next year to be different, you cannot wait until January to start thinking differently. That's what we do in Elevate, is we start now. Now, the first call is on December 1st, and I'd love to see you there. You can go to modernleadership.us forward slash elevate to learn all about the details and even give it a shot for seven days to see if we are the community for you. I'll leave the link inside of the comment section below. But whether you join us or not, do not let your BS run next year.
3:35 Zigging is easier, it's what most people do. But you are not most people. It's time to zag because zagging is what changes everything.
