Growth feels glamorous right up to the moment it sends the bill. We open up about the hidden price tags—time, energy, comfort, even identity—and why those early withdrawals are proof you’re headed in the right direction, not signs you’re failing. Through a candid story of stepping away from a successful collaboration to build a certification from the ground up, we unpack what it takes to stop relying on someone else’s system, take ownership, and design a method you can stand behind.

You’ll hear how confidence often lags behind competence, why results rarely show up first, and how to judge progress by capability instead of instant revenue. We share practical ways to build foundations that last: tight feedback loops, clear teaching frameworks, and environments that invite real growth. If you’ve ever wondered when to leave stability, how to push past the dip, or how to know whether the pain is productive, this conversation gives you a simple lens: growth makes withdrawals before it makes deposits.

From there, we turn to momentum. Once you’ve paid the upfront costs, keeping momentum becomes easier when you reduce transitions, codify your process, and schedule deliberate stretch so comfort doesn’t creep back in. Expect straight talk about risk, simple tools to make progress visible, and questions to help you decide what to leave behind and what you’re ready to claim next.

If this resonated, follow the show, share it with someone at a crossroads, and leave a quick review so more builders can find it. Tell us: what are you ready to let go of to move forward?

00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:05.919
I think every coach loves the idea of growth until it starts costing them something.

00:00:06.080 --> 00:00:14.080
Whether it's time, energy, relationships, comfort, but that cost is usually the sign that you're on the right path.

00:00:14.320 --> 00:00:18.879
Think about a time where growth asks more of you than you actually expected.

00:00:19.039 --> 00:00:20.960
What did you actually have to let go of?

00:00:21.120 --> 00:00:23.519
And what did you gain after you made that trade?

00:00:23.760 --> 00:00:26.399
So we know that growth always costs comfort first.

00:00:26.559 --> 00:00:31.519
And what's crazy is as you keep growing, what was once uncomfortable is now comfortable.

00:00:31.600 --> 00:00:33.280
And you have to keep stretching yourself.

00:00:33.439 --> 00:00:37.439
But every level, you have to leave something familiar behind.

00:00:37.600 --> 00:00:40.960
And when it comes to growth, the reward isn't instant.

00:00:41.119 --> 00:00:43.200
It's revealed in hindsight.

00:00:43.439 --> 00:00:48.799
That's why today's quote is growth makes withdrawals before it makes deposits.

00:00:49.039 --> 00:00:50.399
So let me ask you a question.

00:00:50.640 --> 00:00:55.679
For you, when was it that you felt like you had to leave something in order to move forward?

00:00:56.000 --> 00:01:05.680
So many of you guys uh might know this, but previously to us starting our high impact mastery academy, I used to teach with my mentor, where we co-created a life and performance certification.

00:01:05.840 --> 00:01:07.760
And I really loved to be able to do that.

00:01:07.920 --> 00:01:10.719
He excelled when it comes to marketing, to sales, and to coaching.

00:01:10.879 --> 00:01:22.159
I excelled when it comes to putting together systems, teaching, coaching, getting into the environment, being able to show people how to lean into it, how to grow, getting feedback, those kind of things were my specialty.

00:01:22.319 --> 00:01:23.920
And we worked really, really well together.

00:01:24.079 --> 00:01:35.120
But I noticed that at some point I was starting to rely on him in a lot of areas where, in fact, if I had created my own certification, it would be me taking that next step.

00:01:35.280 --> 00:01:42.319
And I always know that I learn more from leaning in, from taking ownership, and from pushing myself a little bit further.

00:01:42.480 --> 00:01:46.319
And so after about three and a half years, I noticed I wasn't pushing myself as much.

00:01:46.560 --> 00:01:49.760
And so, in order for me to move on, I had to leave that.

00:01:49.920 --> 00:01:56.799
And when you leave that, you leave whether it's stable income, a system that you've already created, those kind of things and create your own.

00:01:57.040 --> 00:02:00.159
That's something that for me was kind of nerve-wracking in the beginning.

00:02:00.319 --> 00:02:03.120
Like, am I going to be able to succeed and do this on my own?

00:02:03.280 --> 00:02:13.439
Now, since I've been able to see that yes, and as a matter of fact, having that total control over the things that we teach and train and how we do that just feels amazing, but it didn't feel amazing in the beginning.

00:02:13.599 --> 00:02:17.840
I still had some hints of lack of confidence of can I do this on my own?

00:02:18.000 --> 00:02:19.759
And that's what I had to leave behind.

00:02:19.840 --> 00:02:23.680
And when I was able to leave that behind, I was able to create something else entirely different.

00:02:23.840 --> 00:02:26.639
But it got me to grow to an entirely different level.

00:02:26.800 --> 00:02:28.879
Feel like my identity changed again.

00:02:29.120 --> 00:02:35.599
Now I know I kind of talked about this on a higher level, but we see this all the time, even from new coaches who join our certification.

00:02:35.759 --> 00:02:41.039
They invest their time, their money, their energy, and the results don't come up front.

00:02:41.199 --> 00:02:44.960
But those sessions are what really creates their foundation.

00:02:45.120 --> 00:02:49.520
And once you understand that, you stop fighting it and start flowing with it.

00:02:49.680 --> 00:02:52.240
And that's when real growth begins to compound.

00:02:52.400 --> 00:02:55.280
Which is why next we need to talk about momentum.

00:02:55.439 --> 00:03:04.560
Because once you build it, it's so much easier to keep it if you know these next few strategies we're going to share with you instead of losing it and having to rebuild it again.

00:03:04.800 --> 00:03:07.039
We'll share that with you in the next episode.
